Last weekend there was a street art festival in Hamilton. Walls were identified around Hamilton East and in the town centre that were ripe for artwork. We saw this space on Grey Street being painted on Friday night. Today I sought it out to see the result. Stunning! I love that these artworks are tucked away…little treasures and splashes of creativity in the drabness of the city.
Early morning hockey training means walks around the lake again. What a beautiful morning!
All packed for Oxfam! Catch up coffee with Allyn. Then back to the hockey turf for another season. My little boy now looks like he belongs on a field of men! Scary!
Stunning clouds this afternoon out at Pukemokemoke. Also did my fastest ever circuit and then managed 2 more!
The working bee crew were out in force and had dosed the wasp nests so hopefully won’t be stung again. One day I will get to a working bee and give back to this amazing reserve that we have had so much joy from. I was talking to one of the volunteers who was telling me he had been working up there for 20 years. When he first started it was overrun with weeds, stoats, rats and possums. They are now all eradicated and the place is planted with native trees and the birdsong is back.
Catch up day! One of the fall outs of being on the road is catching up with ‘real work’. That was today! Good to be able to enjoy the summer in my own backyard though. The butterflies are still enjoying late blooms on the buddleia. (I managed to wipe out the paper wasps with a good dose of fly spray!)
A great day working with teachers from the BoP today. A real range of questions, robust conversations and opportunities to share stories. Home just in time to get to Three Beer Thursday at Craft to enjoy a few beers. Spotted this street artist painting a wall on the walk home.
On the road again. I visited Tauranga Primary School and saw the amazing learning that was going on in such a beautiful setting. There was a real buzz of engagement and happiness. Then workshops with teachers at Tauranga Boys College – good learning conversations and plenty to think about. Topped off with a walk up Mauao and a swim in the sea. Perfect!
We had a full workshop today in Papatoetoe. Lots of great conversations about learning, exploring ideas, sharing practice and excitement about the possibilities that digital affords our learners.
On the CLA road again! Workshops all week in Auckland and Tauranga. I got stung by a wasp yesterday at Pukemokemoke and my leg is swollen and very sore. So spending the evening in my motel room with wine and chocolate watching TV and working!
Another walk when we dodged the rain! The light on the Toetoe was beautiful though the photo doesn’t really show the purple tinge to the fronds. I love getting up high!
