Another ‘recovery’ day and another beautiful ‘day in paradise’ and extra special because it’s a long weekend. Muscles are sore, toes are sore but hip not too sore! We decided to tackle the Silica Rapids before heading home via Taupo and a dip in the lake. More stunning scenery…say no more!

Too windy for the Tongariro Crossing so we headed for Tama Lakes. Turned into a beautiful day so a heap of stunning photos but I cheated so much yesterday that I’ll have to choose only one today!
This is the highest point looking down to the lower Tama Lake with a still snow be-robed Ruapehu behind.

Our midwinter weekend away. Family time, time to relax, recharge batteries, enjoy the fresh air and take in the magnificent scenery. Love Tongariro because we can get above the tree line and appreciate the big skies and the rugged terrain. So difficult to choose a photo today because I took so many! Maybe this one at the end of the day when the sun was setting in the west and casting it’s light on Mount Ruapehu and the moon was rising next to it.
