Holidays but not holidays! Not being a teacher any more means no more school holidays which is a strange thing to get used to after 29 years! But working from home means I do have the flexibility to manage my own working hours. So an early start this morning and a couple of hours from 5 – 7pm meant that I could catch up with a friend this afternoon. What did we do? Why, join the rest of Hamiltonians searching for Pokemons around the lake, of course!
A cleaning out the garage sort of day… We can now actually walk from one side to the other without having to step over stuff! Two hockey matches for Gus today. The sun set whilst he played the first – a stunning winter sky.
A lazy day which started with brunch, then to the football field to watch Lachlan play, a trip to town to kit Gus out for his first school ball, then a family trip to the Hamilton night market. It was lovely to be all four together. Scrummy food but otherwise not much to tempt us back… a sort of glorified $2 shop with one or two notable arty exceptions. Interesting range of food though and plenty of people made it a bustling, warm atmosphere. This little boy bravely played his violin amongst the throngs.
A night in and a Guardian crossword in front of the fire. Has to be online nowadays, not quite the same as the real paper and a pencil but it sort of works.

Another cold misty morning at the lake. Ran 6km and never warmed up but the mist swirling around the lake made for very Turneresque landscapes. I almost didn’t take a photo but then spotted this mother duck out with her brood following behind her..
Winter has arrived and so has the Waikato fog. It finally cleared away by midday and crept its way back in by 5.oopm. A short blue sky and sunshine window! Think this photo gets the pick today – evening sun sinking into the mist over Lake Rotoroa.
This is a sneaky one… Friday evening in the Craft Bar turned into Saturday morning. Where did the time go? Chiefs v Crusaders rugby (good result for the home team) interesting conversation and a decent selection of beer.
