Day 50 February 19th 2016

I should be asleep now but it’s too early for me! In Taupo for the Great Lake Relay which starts at 2am. Every year the race pack includes a cuddly toy so here is the team mascot for this year stocking up on goodies. She was christened “Juanita (with a ‘W’)” because our team name was the “Dynamic Waikato Dio Wannabees” so we thought of names to match DWDW – Dolores, Winnifred, Dorothy and then Jo said “Wuanita” – with a ‘W’!! It stuck! So here is “Wuanita with a W”

Day 45 February 14th 2016

Another scorcher in The Tron! A thought to friends,  relatives and all in Christchurch who suffered a large earthquake today.  Luckily all seem safe with apparently only minor damage according to news reports. This morning was spent helping out at the Bikewise event at Claudelands Park. The No Boring Bits team provided a skills course for budding mountain bikers which was tried out by a wide range of riders.

Day 44 February 13th 2016

Another long walk with the Posties today. The team is looking a little different because sadly Deb has had to pull out due to a toe injury. So Mel has valiantly stepped into the breach and it was a baptism of fire for her today. Unforgiving terrain and overwhelming heat!  Great work, Posties!

Day 43 February 12th 2016

Not much to choose from today – a day spent at the computer working.  But as I sit in my office with the sliding doors open I am serenaded by the chatter of birds and cicadas.  I am not very good at the whole standing every twenty minutes and moving around especially when I am engrossed in a job.  I tend to want to just get it done.  However, when the heat is sweltering and I realise I have been hunched over for a while and I am distracted by a new bird call, I get up to have a look.  Two little wax eyes flit around in the tree.  Unfortunately too quick to snap them but as I stand under the tree something flashes past my face and lands on the tree in front of me.  Beautiful

Day 41 February 10th 2016

Lucky enough to attend a workshop today by Terry Anderson who is keynoting at Wcelfest.  At what point does effective learning take place? Now transfer that to a blended learning space.  Relationships between learner and teacher are still paramount. It’s just that we have to think outside the box a bit to develop a social presence for both learner and teacher.
