Autumn definitely here: a chilly morning but cleared away to a warm, sunny day. Great drying day and as I hung the washing out I noticed the silk tree flowers silhouetted against the blue sky. So delicate.

A day in Auckland, working and relaxing. Started with a beautiful, clear, cold morning.
Day 95 April 4th 2016
Even managed a walk into Ham East for lunch at the Grey Gardens cafe with my big son. Autumn definitely here but it’s still warm. Don’t you just love how chestnuts fit so perfectly and then burst open…

So how is it that in the southern hemisphere the first day of the season is on the 1st of the month but in the northern hemisphere the seasons change at the equinox? The first of March definitely didn’t feel like autumn here but the light this evening down the river path and the colour of the fallen leaves is certainly consistent with autumn.

First day of autumn in the southern hemisphere. It rained but still very hot and humid. A day at the computer, a 14km training walk then an evening at home. Here’s a photo of Nigel – at the computer, behind a bottle.
