I was tempted today with the first of our red roses to bloom. But the momentous news that our new government is to be led by Jacinda Ardern really does beat that! A Labour/Green/NZFirst coalition calls for a wee celebration!

Hump day! My only photo today was the values poster from Piopio College which I visited today for work. It is interesting to see the different ways schools express the values that are part of their school vision.

The keynote I missed at Ulearn because I left early to fly to Nelson was the standout of the conference. I heard Anne Milne speak a couple of years and was deeply moved by what she said then. I have been reading the tweets and blog posts her keynote stimulated and have bought her book, Colouring in the White Spaces. I love the idea of ‘warrior scholars’.

Back to work…no photos today but ribs are feeling more sore as bruising comes out! Here’s proof that I was there!

The morning after the day before! A lazy start, leisurely breakfast, coffee on the beach, fly home!

My big day has arrived! Not as prepared as I wanted to be after 4 weeks of being crook with a cough and cold then a heavy week at conference. No training for the last 2 weeks and fairly minimal before that but it is what it is! Dig deep, do your best. I’m here. Took a huge tumble about 10km from home, slammed my ribs and winded myself pretty badly. What do you do? Pick yourself up, brush yourself off and carry on! So I did. Glad it was only 33km and not the 36km advertised! Done! Made sure I stopped often enough to enjoy the scenery. Pick of the day….has to be the weka that walked in front of me!

A mad dash from Ulearn to the airport. Off to Nelson then Marahau for the Abel Tasman Classic. Time for a wee walk to suss out the start and finish line. Always good to be with a friend!

Today’s MHAWNZ photo challenge. I love the simplicity of daisies. Memories of childhood summers making daisy chains.
