Love the colours in Autumn. I had to edit this photo because it just didn’t turn out with the vibrancy of colour that was actually there. There is something comforting about fallen leaves, the warm colours and memories of kicking my feet through piles of them in the garden or out on walks with my family as a little girl.
Day 130 May 9th 2016
Morning walks around the lake have resumed now that hockey training has started again. Think it’s going to be a bit hit and miss this term with all the travelling I’ll be doing so I’ll make the most of them when I can. I looked out for the spoonbills where I saw them last week but they have moved to the other side of the lake. Fast asleep too at 7.15! Lazy!
Day 129 May 8th 2016
Mothers’ Day
Love my boys and proud of them too. Planned a Mothers’ Day meal but Lachlan couldn’t stay because he needed to take a friend to hospital who had been assaulted. Disappointed he wasn’t with us but proud that he looks after his mates. Looking forward to tomorrow when we’ll get together again. This was breakfast outside in the garden this morning.
Day 128 May 7th 2016
Day 127 May 6th 2016
A day in Wellington learning Te Reo and getting immersed in language again. Loved it but it was good to get home in time to go and see the last quarter of Aonghas’ hockey game. This time he was the coach and not a player. Great to see my boys growing up and taking on responsibility. Aonghas is coaching an intermediate school team and Lachlan is coaching Aonghas’ football team.
Hockey team came away with a 1-0 win, football today was a 6-6 draw.
Day 126 May 5th 2016
So I went for a walk around the bays today. Well a bit of the way round and then over the top. To meet a friend and it turned out to be two friends! We had a lovely evening catching up and nearly, very nearly getting caught up in the pub quiz! After the first rainy day in months, Wellington turned on a pretty spectacular sunset.
Day 125 May 4th 2016
Star Wars day and I think this psychedelic journey is apt.
Day 124 May 3rd 2016
Day 123 May 2nd 2016
Hockey season has started which means morning walks around the lake. It is dark when I set off and the birds are just waking up. By the time I got round the pigeons which had been gently cooing were flitting around, I had heard the geese fly over honking loudly and land in the middle of the lake before floating serenely to the bank. Today, as well as the usual pukeko, ducks and moorhens I saw a solitary grey heron and a couple of white spoonbills. Difficult to get in-focus shots of moving birds in the mist but I like this one of the heron. Interesting any which way round.
Day 122 May 1st 2016
Only one photo today! I can’t believe that the Pat and the Posties Oxfam team got together again for the first time after the event and we didn’t take a photo! Too much chatting, catching up and generally enjoying ourselves!
However, I did take this photo of the pink ‘fairy fluff’ on this flamboyant dish that one of the team ordered.
