A beautiful day today and we were lucky enough to see the tail end of it as we walked back to the hotel from our hui. The moon rising in a fading blue sky over city buildings.

On my way to the Google Summit… Long drive due to an accident which entailed a 17km tailback and wet conditions. I’ve been past this junction countless times but never seen this lizard… A red light and being second in the queue probably made it more visible… Just love the way it’s peeping from behind the column.
For some reason this post remained as a draft way back on day 75! Just found it so have published but way out of synch!
Autumn is definitely in the air but summer is still hanging in there. I quite like the comfort of autumnal evening darkness yet still wrapped in the warm air of lingering summer. Anyway, the onset of Autumn means the start of the hockey season and a return to walking round the lake.
While waiting for Gus to finish training I decided to try out a Surround Shot. Uploaded to Street View for all to see. The image is below but go to the link to see it in 360 surround view, or even better, view through Google Cardboard to see in VR.
Check out Gallagher Hockey Centre
Took Nigel and Aonghas up to Pukemokemoke today -good training for the Waitomo outing in two weeks time. Beautiful evening and time to take some photos from the trig. Still not sure if this is Toetoe or Pampas grass…. Toetoe is indigenous but has been pushed out by pampas grass imported by Europeans. Anyway, whatever it is, it looked beautiful with the evening light shining through it.
We enjoy a beer or three at our ‘local’ on Friday evenings. The number of small craft brewers in New Zealand has grown exponentially in the last 7 years and we now enjoy a range of excellent beers. The Craftbar usually has around 12 different beers on tap so plenty to choose from. Great for the palate, not so good for the waistline! But great to unwind after a busy week.
Beware online shopping! My Emirates skyward points were about to expire so I decided to spend them in the online store. Not much that I needed but now I am travelling about quite a bit I thought this bag looked handy and quite cool.
I took delivery this morning…rather smaller than I had expected! Oh, well, lesson learned but at least it didn’t cost me anything! And it is rather nice!
