Didn’t sleep well and woke up far earlier than I had intended so went for a walk down to the beach. What a glorious sunrise.
Next stop: Gisborne. Yesterday we drove through beautiful countryside to Gisborne. I really will have to come back and explore this area more. Lytton High School made us extremely welcome at their staff meeting and we had some great discussions after our “eduignite” style presentations.
The first of our SMS workshops today in Hamilton and then up to Auckland in preparation for tomorrow. I walked into Takapuna for tea and a walk on the beach.
Out at Raglan again today to show another visitor around. Last week we watched as people jumped off Te Kopua bridge. It was a sad day today out there; a teenager drowned when someone landed on top of him after he had jumped off the bridge. Two hours later the appetite for bridge jumping was still as strong as ever but I didn’t really feel like taking any photos, out of respect. We headed over to Ngaranui beach where the tide was as far out as I think we have ever seen it. I love the reflection of the clouds in the shallow water.

Water was the main feature today. The spectacular MacLean Falls claims the photo. The serenity of Lake Wilkie contrasted nicely with the elegant cascade of the falls and was a stark contrast to the crashing waves on Tautuku Beach. This photo is of the top of the triple drop falls.
